![]() Call for Basin Community Committee members19 August 2011
The Murray-Darling Basin Authority is calling for expressions of interest for the second term of the Basin Community Committee (BCC). The BCC gives key advice to the Authority on community engagement for the Basin Plan and other community issues regarding water in the Basin. Nominees must have expertise or interest in community, local government or Indigenous water resource matters, irrigated agriculture or environmental water management. Since their appointment on 10 June 2009, the current BCC has played an important role in the MDBA’s consultation with communities during the development of the proposed Basin Plan. The BCC has met 23 times in Canberra and various regions across the Basin. During regional meetings, the BCC has met with community and industry groups to build on their basin-wide perspective. Applications will open on 19 August 2011 for a period of six weeks, closing on 30 September 2011. Members are appointed by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority for 3-year terms commencing mid 2012. The BCC is an advisory committee under the Water Act 2007. An information package is available from the Authority’s website.
