Lower Darling catchment map Menindee Lakes Historical Comparison

When the volume of water in the Menindee Lakes falls below 640GL, control transfers from the MDB Authority to NSW. When the lakes are under NSW control they are operated to provide water supply to Broken Hill and for local irrigation around Menindee and in the Lower Darling. When water is abundant and the lakes are under Authority control water is also distributed into the Murray to supplement supply to South Australia including providing additional dilution flow to control salinity in South Australia.
