Basin Plan amendment process

The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) recommended amendments to the Commonwealth Water Minister on 9 November 2017. The Minister adopted these amendments, and they became law in July 2018.

The amendments were based on research, monitoring and consultation.

The amendments were provided to the Ministerial Council and subsequently the Authority for consideration. Based on their suggestions some further technical changes were made to the amendment. No changes to either the northern Basin or groundwater SDLs were made since the amendment was first proposed in November 2016.
