Water recovery factors for Queensland

The Queensland Government, with support from the Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA), has been working on updating the 2011 factors. The updated factors have been released by the Queensland Government.

These factors will be used to update the estimates of water recovered in Queensland and determine whether the water recovery targets under the Basin Plan have been met.

In updating the factors, the Queensland Government considered:

  • water availability over the 114-year historical climate period

  • the permitted long-term average water use for a group of entitlements over the historical climate period

  • local rules regarding water access in each area through state water management law.

These updated factors align with Queensland’s accredited water resource plans.
