Water recovery factors for Victoria

The Victorian Government, with support from the Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA), has been working on updating the 2011 factors. The updated factors have been released by the Victorian Government.

These factors will be used to update the estimates of water recovered in Victoria and determine whether the water recovery targets under the Basin Plan have been met.

In updating the factors, the Victorian Government considered:

  • the simulation of the long-term water use behaviour in various hydrologic models
  • climatic patterns over the 114-year historical climate period
  • rules regarding water access in each area through state water management law.

These updated factors align with the Victorian water resource plans, which are now accredited.
