River reflections conference

River reflections conference. Connecting Basin communities, industries and ideas

Basin communities rely on a healthy, productive river system to sustain their lives and livelihoods. An annual regional water conference series, River reflections, launched in June 2021 to provide the space and time for the diverse communities of the Murray–Darling Basin to come together.

The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) recognises that regional river communities have lived and worked with the river systems of the Murray–Darling Basin for generations. River reflections is about hearing from the diverse communities and industries of the Basin.

Water management in the Basin relies on a partnership between multiple governments, industries and experts – River reflections is about hearing from all partners involved in water management. River reflections conferences will share innovations in water management, knowledge and lessons learned while celebrating achievements in water reform.

River reflections 2022

River reflections 2022 will be held in the Sunraysia region in mid-2022. More information including how to register will be available in early 2022.

River reflections 2021

Collaboration is the key

A key message from the first River reflections conference was the recognition that Basin lives and livelihoods depend on communities and industries working together towards common goals.

During his key note address on Day 1 the Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia, the Hon Keith Pitt announced $25 million to improve metering in the northern Basin.

Find out more about how First Nations are Caring for culture and Country and the Climate risks facing the Basin in the media releases issued during the conference.

Presentations from the 2021 conference will be added to this page soon.
