In a nation obsessed with sport, there’s been paleo, there’s been the fit bit and now there’s the PIT tag.

We’re currently monitoring around 20,000 fish in the River Murray using Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tag readers. Positioned at the entrance and exits of fishways along the river, the readers are telling us lots of interesting stuff, including which fish are the biggest and fastest movers.
