Have your say
21 December 2016
We are inviting submissions from people to provide feedback or to support the proposed Basin Plan amendments.
We are seeking your feedback on two key amendment areas:
There are also some technical corrections and amendments as a consequence of changes to other legislation, for example the Water Act 2007.
You can lodge a submission through our online portal. All submissions must be received by 5pm (AEST) on 10 February 2017.
We are holidng community information sessions around the basin explaining the proposed amendments and the rationale behind them.
All submissions will be published online unless you request at the time of making your submission that it remains confidential.
At the end of the submission process your feedback will be collated and used to inform the Murray-Darling Basin Authority’s final proposed amendment.
A report outlining any changes to the proposed Basin Plan amendments will be prepared and made publically available. This process could take several months.
We also consult with our counterparts in State Governments and Basin State Ministers.
A recommendation will then be provided to the Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources for consideration. Once the Minister makes a decision, the amendments will be tabled in parliament.
Please note: the Murray-Darling Basin Authority will be closed Monday 27 December 2016, reopening Tuesday 3 January 2017. Submissions and queries will not be actioned during this time.
