Listening, learning, and working together

The sold-out conference, held in Mildura on 1 to 2 June, included 2 mornings of presentations that delved into some contemporary challenges and achievements and looked ahead to what comes next, as well as informative site visits both afternoons.

A key message from the 2022 River reflections conference was the need to respond to the changing conditions and climate by adjusting our approach when necessary. Ensuring a healthy working Basin into the future is something that requires partnerships between water managers, scientific experts, and communities, all working together.

Conference attendees heard about a range of topics, including:

• tackling our climate challenges head-on together

• how to take advantage of a post-Covid population boom

• the vital final pieces of the Basin Plan

• the immediate wet outlook for the Basin

• a sand slug slowly strangling water delivery in the River Murray.
