Narrabri New South Wales, situated on the Namoi River (Narrabri Creek pictured), is the venue for the Murray–Darling Basin Authority’s River reflections 2023 annual water conference.

Situated in the northern Basin, Narrabri sits along the banks of the Namoi River and is the administrative heart of the second richest agricultural shire in Australia. It is in the centre of a major cotton growing industry and other agricultural industries such as wheat, beef and lamb.

Tucked into the base of the Nandewar Ranges, Narrabri is home to the Kamilaroi People. The area has a wealth of tourist attractions including Kaputar National Park, the CSIRO Australia Telescope Compact Array at the Paul Wild Observatory and the Pilliga Forest – the largest remnant temperate forest in eastern Australia.

A steering committee made up of local government, industry, community and First Nations representatives, will provide guidance on the River reflections 2023 conference program.

The conference provides the space and time for the diverse communities of the Murray–Darling Basin to come together to listen and learn from one another.

The 2023 conference will also see a wide range of national and local speakers sharing their insights and perspectives on challenges and innovations, community resilience, and river and ecosystem health.

Registrations will open in the New Year, so stay tuned for details.
