The Sustainable Rivers Audit (SRA) is a systematic assessment of the health of river ecosystems in the Murray–Darling Basin. It is overseen by a panel of independent ecologists, the Independent sustainable rivers audit group (ISRAG), who are the authors of this report.

SRA 1 provides assessments of ecosystem health for each of 23 major river valleys, using data gathered in 2004–07, on hydrology, fish and macroinvertebrates.

The first in a triennial SRA series, the report also describes the framework of the SRA, its operation and options for future development.
