First Nations participation in environmental watering

First Nations participation in water management and planning is vital in sustainable water management in the Murray–Darling Basin. The Murray–Darling Basin Authority, along with state and federal environmental water holders work with First Nations people to include their values and uses in environmental watering.

Each year, the Murray−Darling Basin Authority reports on how First Nations' values and uses were considered in the planning and delivery of water for the environment in the Murray−Darling Basin. The reports are part of the work of government agencies to improve engagement and reporting on First Nations' involvement in Murray–Darling Basin environmental water management. These reports reflect the reality that water is an important part of First Nations' communities, culture and livelihoods.
