Irrigated Agriculture in the Mallee

The Basin Salinity Management Strategy (BSMS) focuses on addressing changes in salinity in the River Murray. The Mallee is a major region of future salinity risk from irrigation. Irrigation activities generates root zone drainage (RZD), water that passes beyond the crop root zone, and causes groundwater level to rise which poses salinity risks to River Murray. This report examines RZD estimation under irrigated agriculture in the Mallee.
